I'm wondering if this sand may be safe? I know it's advertised as decorative sand, but it says, "Fully safe and non-toxic; no free silica or quartz, it's 100% natural and environmentally friendly; ACMI Certified, AP approved and meets CA Prop 65"

I do not want to seem pushy, but if anyone has opinions on the sand I posted, I would be very appreciative. It's just that a lot of the items in my cart have a limited quality, and I want to make sure I order in time.

I've been told that this is a very commonly used sand:

Thank you for the suggestion! I've seen that but it is pretty pricey.

I found a sand at Home Depot that was labeled as play sand, child and pet safe! Only $4 for a 50lb bag, so I am very happy with that find.

I have ordered sand from Zooplus. Cheaper than amazon.

Your home depot find sounds like great value.

I use this one - I think most people do

Sand is a big topic! There are all kinds of different sand apparently and some are not good for hamsters. I think children's play sand is ok.

I've picked up that children's sand that I was talking about, but I'm going to return it. It has silica in it which is known to cause cancer and lung disease if breathed in. It says to wear a respirator with continuous use.

How is this safe for children?? Let alone animals. Every play sand I've found so far for a reasonable price has silica in it.

Ugh.
I honestly would feel more comfortable with that decorative sand that I posted earlier from Amazon... silica and quartz free is a huge plus in my book.
