Re: Watch me build up my tank! :)
It's where he hung out a lot before I added more, so I assume he will like having more to play in! But he hasn't woken up yet.

Look great Jenibelle! I know you originally wanted a natural wheel but that CS wheel in the dark green blends in quite nicely, doesn't it?

It does look really good, I like the dark green wheel too but it does look better with the base buried in the substate!

Re: Watch me build up my tank! :)
Just wondering if you had the wheel at its maximum height setting. I'm not sure how high they extend, but that would be a way of keeping the base buried in the substrate and having the wheel a bit higher up - there seems to be the height in the cage for it to go higher up and then you could have slightly deeper substrate at that end too. I shouldn't worry about the back stand not looking great - most wheels don't look good from the back - and you'd only see it from the outside side of the cage really.

Re: Watch me build up my tank! :)
I don't know how to adjust the size. I know it's possible to change the size and to tilt, but I don't know how.
Thank you for the compliments, but the sand is now gone. I think Bernie started having an allergic reaction to the new shipment. I've no idea why, it's the same type he had before, but from a different processor. I noticed afterward that there were optional cleaning instructions, so I'm wondering if this company didn't clean it as thoroughly as the last? I don't know. I have a lot more and the boyfriend suggested we try again after cleaning it, but I don't think I want to risk that.
You can read about it more in his thread in the Syrian section of the forum if you want. It was very scary.

Re: Watch me build up my tank! :)
Oh poor Bernie - I read about it on the other threads. Does the bag of sand have any information about ingredients and percentages? Glad you took it out - I'm sure the cage still looks lovely. The best laid plans and all that! Bernie will probably rearrange the cage how he wants it at some point anyway! Most hams do - they start pushing substrate around - leaving huge piles here and there and digging in other bits. he'll probably appreciate digging more than sand bathing anyway! Actually, now you have the sand out and the wheel at the other side, you could used the fenced off area as a deep substrate digging area Like as high as the tall bendy bridge. I'm sure he'd love that.
