Hi guys!

So I switched some things around. Here is a new over-all view of the tank.

As you can see in this picture, I've adjusted the bendy bridge wall. The short bridge is now in front, so it will be much easier for the hamster to get back and forth between the two sections.

I also made the bridge wall wrap all away to the back of the tank. This really serves no purpose other than aesthetics, but I think it looks nice. And although it is very obvious that I need a LOT more sand, this little bag gives a small sneak peak of what that section will look like. I just ordered a lot more sand last night, and it should be in within a week.

As you can hopefully tell, the shelf is not yet done... I ran out of dowels to make fences with. But it's really coming together so far!

The back row and sides are completely dry, the front row is still wet.

Prices:
That tiny bag of sand was $11 (2lbs!) >.> But I just ordered 25lbs from a new store for only $22.
I also had to open a new pack of $3 dowels (which I previously thought I'd be returning). And I'm going to need to go buy more.

Thank you both greatly I am progressing on this a lot quicker than I imagined. This is supposed to spread out over a year, but I doubt that will happen, I'm just having too much fun with it! But I know once it's ready and perfect I'm going to REALLY want to get a hamster pronto lol.

Guys... we have a super, huge, BIG update!

Last night I went to PetSmart to pick up some more supplies. As I always do, I took a little peak at the small animals. I only ask to play with them if they're awake, because I don't like disturbing them. Well, one was wide awake so I asked if I could take him out. This hamster wasn't mean, but he was pretty hand shy, so I put him back quickly because I didn't want to stress him. I was chit-chating with the lady and asked if they had any cream colored ones. She says yes, and lifted up the little house. In that tank there was a cream and white banded, a white one with grey ears and red eyes, and a full white boy with black eyes.

Although the white boy with black eyes was in his house, his eyes were open, so I asked to see him. He came right to me. He was so soft, and so sweet, and not at all shy. He climbed all over me and explored me and even snuggled into my chest. When I put him back he ran to the other side of the tank (meeting me there) and put his little hands on the glass.

I was just smitten.

I brought my boyfriend to see him this morning (he was equally lovable, right out of a disturbed sleep!), and he was equally smitten. I was so surprised, but the boyfriend really loves him as well! So much so that he said he would care for him by himself while I'm at school.

So... we welcomed Bernie (pet name, Bubbe) into our lives WAY sooner than expected.

He is not yet in his tank, the last bit of wood fences need a couple of hours to dry, but after that I'm going to release him into his new forever home. It isn't 100% done yet. The rest of his sand will come in within this week (by the 6th of January). And yes, he does not have a wheel yet, but it is ordered and will be in within 2-3 days (I expressed shipped it). I decided on the Carolina, because although it is ugly, it does seem far easier to clean and with the boyfriend deciding to help, I wanted to make it as easy as physically possible for him.

Here is the newest overview of his tank. As you can see, I was able to secure some sisal to his shelf and hang wooden toys off of that!

Here is his new food bowl
**The cactus is not plastic, it's made out of the same material as the entire dish.

I picked him out Oxbow essentials. The bag says to give unlimited feed to a hamster under 6 months. Is this correct?

Also, his bridge that was meant to reach the top shelf won't come in until the end of the month, so I pulled his house out so that he can use that to reach the top shelf. We'll see how this works, but he seems to be a great climber! (he was scaling the cardboard box they sent him home with VERY well). I put his food on the shelf in so he won't kick bedding and stuff into it.

A view of the other side of the shelf. This tunnel fits on it perfectly!

His sand area, which is not yet filled with sand, but will be soon! When his wheel comes in I will remove the rock in the corner, and his wheel will go on that wall. If I measured correctly it will fit there PERFECTLY. And if I didn't, we will have to readjust.

His water bottle. It got great reviews... 5 stars with almost 70 reviewers. Hopefully it works well! I have the rocks under to catch any possible leaks and to keep nails trim.

He also has a potty area (that rock looking thing next to the bridge walls. I'm going to fill it with his old bedding and hopefully he'll take to going there).

I currently have the tissue trick in my arm!
And here is the baby boy himself, last night at the pet store.

He is currently sleeping in his travel cage (not the cardboard one, I bought him a new one). But he will get his own thread tonight once he is in his big tank!
