The Alaska has been dispatched. I'm hoping I like it so that I can get on with sourcing items to set it up. Going by what I have read it seems the bar quality is the only issue and the reviews on zoo plus seem good enough. The strange thing is I don't understand why I am stressing so much over a cage..lol

I would inspect it once it arrives msdemi and if your unhappy with it, even if the cage isn`t damaged, Zooplus will accept it back and you can order the Barney instead, although the Alaska may suit you fine anyway. I agree about that small domed house being removed as it`s rather useless. Using a big cardboard box with no floor under the shelf as a nice cosy nesting area is much better and roomier for a Syrian. x

I love my alaska cage. It currently houses a roborovski but did have a syrian in for a bit.

It has a lovely deep base and that wonderful big opening front door. The bars would benefit from a few extra clips to fix it to the base but it seems strong enough.

My barney is wonderful. I love the big wooden house and the shelf and ramp. Great design. The small front doors annoy me but the big top one is good.

Both cages have nice deep bases. I prefer the colour of the alaska.

Get a barney as well and then you could have another hamster! (heehee)

Yes it's stressy choosing a cage lol! I ordered two in the middle of the night - after we had had Charlie three weeks in a horrible Rotostak thing and he got stuck in the tubes. So I sat down to order one there and then for next day delivery. I'd not read up much, but ordered the Savic Mickey 2XL which I have now and the Barney (which was 80cm then). The Savic arrived first so I decided to keep it. Then the Barney arrived and it was slightly bigger and I really liked it. But sent it back. And always wished I had kept it lol.

Well I am very happy with the Alaska and begrudgingly I have to agree it fits the spot perfectly. However we have a Kallax at the end of our bed which has the tv on.. Now I am thinking sod the tv project detolf which was slyly mentioned last night which received an eye roll and what about the tv.. However hamsters are far more entertains to watch aren't they, hopefully over the next month or so he will learn to agree...the tv would stand where his cage is now and or could be mounted somehow on the wall if we moved it around... Hmmm I can see the Xmas dinner being ruined or something because I will have an Ikea hack on my mind all day.

MCS is already developing.
