Sorry I should have said I meant the 10kg bag from the fitch site, that's what the measurements were for.
I really don't think it would be worth getting a 1kg bag tbh.

I would just change straight over tbh, they love the toilet tissue so better a tiny bit of stress than leaving the dangerous fluffy stuff in, you could just mix it with a little substrate to get your hams smell on it.

Wow! Thank you for all your feedback everyone!

I definitely think sticking with a paper/pulp based bedding is best for me. My boyfriend suffers from a lot of allergies and hayfever, so I don't really want to risk hemp bedding, even though I hear a lot of good stuff about it.

I know it's terrible value for money, but I've bought the little 1kg bag of Fitch to try; it means I can see if we like it without worrying about how to get rid of the big bag if we don't :P

I really want to try and make my own paper bedding at some point too, but the amount I'd need each time would take a long time to make, wouldn't it? If not, then I definitely want to try!

It's still cheaper than a bag of Carefresh! I tried hemp and it aggravated me (asthmatic) which is a shame so I think it's a wise move to stick to paper based. I was getting Cosi n Dri for a while and found it dust free - Tumblefresh was very dusty though - which looks similar to Cosi n Dri. Cosi n Dri seems to be discontinued now. I did find one place with it in stock, but if it's going to be disappearing soon that would mean changing again so I'm sticking to Fitch.

I'm sure you'll like the Fitch and the 10kg bag isn't that big to find a home for, if you do like it. Hamsters seem to like it too! It lasts me about 6 months.

I've just bought my first bag of Fitch and it's great, not dusty at all. I used Carefresh before and it was a bit dusty and made me sneeze. The hams are enjoying the Fitch as well. If storage is a concern, the 10kg bag is pretty big!

The 20kg is huge! I don't find the 10kg that big really. I take the black plastic off and leave it in the clear plastic bag, that lets it 'rest' a bit. Sat on the floor it's about 2'6" across and about 2 high, but you could make it narrower and taller if you had that shaped space to fit it in. It would go in the bottom of a wardrobe, but then you'd have to find somewhere to put your shoes lol.

Thanks so much! It sounds like I could probably find space for the 10kg bag of Fitch if Nibbler gets on with it. I'm really glad to hear it's not too dusty though, she's had a slightly crackly nose recently so I really need to find an alternative quickly. I'll let you know when it turns up and how it goes!

Yes do that! I'm sure she'll be happy with the Fitch.
