Default How tall dose a tank need to be?

Hi all, I'm looking at constructing a custom tank and I'm not sure on how tall to go with it? The tank length will be 4ft or maybe 5ft and 12' or 14' deep, the tank will be constructed of glass and sat on a custom built stand with a custom build lid with large mesh inserts.

Is 12" to low? My thoughts was 18" as its not going to have any upper levels due to me having a pair of dwarfs and 2ft is going to way to high?

Thoughts please?

For dwarfs 12" should be fine, you'll need 8" wheels so that would give you plenty of room even if the wheels are sat on a layer of substrate.
I don't think it would be too high, plenty of room for a really good deep layer of substrate for them to dig & burrow in which they love with enough height to put everything else you need on top.

ETA I meant to say 18" would be fine, sorry!

Thank you, iv decided on a tank at 150L X 30W X 46H. I think our new little additions will be happy in there.

That sounds excellent. You could easily have 25cm depth of substrate in that so they could dig tunnels. So do you mean 150cm wide/long, 30cm deep front to back and 45cm high? My only thought would be 40cm deep might be better. The detolf is 38cm deep and I would say at least that depth. Height could be anything from 30cm to 50cm depending on how much depth of substrate you want. If you have deep substrate though, the pair of wheels would need to be supported somehow, or have one section of the tank that is lower so they can sit on the base. Or you could have two subterranean houses with flat roofs and the wheels could stand on top of those. I'm sure you already know the need for two of everything with a pair of dwarfs anyway!

Yes thanks for that, unfortunately I can only go 30cm with the area it's going in that's why I decided on longer. Yes 2 of everything will be home no in. Iv decided on 50cm high.
