Default Dummy's Guide to Detolf Lids

Hi all,

I'm looking to build a lid for my Ikea Detolf. My dwarf Donald lives in there lidless at the moment, but it seems silly keeping an ageing dwarf hamster in a huge Detolf when I have a large Syrian in a ZooZone 2, so I'm looking to swap their homes. Bobba the Syrian is very destructive, however, and will definitely need a lid.

I've seen various tutorials online but none which give the amount of detail a novice like me will need! Could anybody point me to a good tutorial?

Thanks.

Right, materials for the lid are ready, thanks to the v. helpful B and Q store workers who cut all the wood for me and sourced the mesh : D

now just need to:
- Make the lid!
- Remove Donald from the Detolf and clean it out
- Put Bobba's things in the Detolf
- Clean out the ZooZone and set it up for Donald
- Put both hamsters in their new homes

It's going to be a long day - wish me luck! I'll post some pics when they're done.

Ok, as promised:

One of the lids for the Detolf. Annoyingly, they ended up slightly too big so there is a gap where one is resting on top, but they are secure enough for now and Bobba can't reach it at that end.

The completed Detolf with - from left to right - sand area (Chinchilla sand), 28cm wooden wheel and rocks from the garden (scrubbed and boiled). Wooden shavings area with wooden bridges, strawberry home etc. Megazorb mixed with some wooden shavings, Trixie Labyrinth home and the Chinchilla sand carton Bobba insists on sleeping in
