I ended up going to a local hardware store who cut out most of the lid and fastened mesh wire with zip ties for $13. It worked out!

Yea if it wasn't for these forums & You Tube my hamsters wouldn't get up-to-date help with much better living conditions. It's nice to know that hammie owners can pick the brain of other more experienced hammie owners.
