Good hanging toys and dens?

Hello!

I'm looking for some new toys for my syrian.
I wanted something that could maybe hang off the roof? Like a den thing or maybe another level? as the floor space is quite packed.

He has the Alaska cage so he can fit something fairly big along the roof.

Any Ideas? I can't afford anything too expensive and I live in the UK :3 thank you!

P@H do a hanging house that's made for the Savic cage but that might work. It looks like a pod but can be hung upside down too.

Or, if you can do a bit of DIY you could buy a little house and cable tie it to the roof? Just need to keep an eye on chewing but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Then just add a wooden bridge for access

I just ordered the sputnik house thing as I went on zooplus to buy a toilet for him and its a minimum order of £9 haha I hope it works but if not it was only a few pounds so doesn't really matter!

I like the diy idea though! I want to try some diy projects for him.

Did you get the rat size Sputnik? The "hamster" size ones are a bit small for Syrians. I love the sputniks and so do my hams, Glowy has one and I'll probably get him another one soon and Nibble has two connected with bendy tubes. They spend lots of time in them, it adds an extra level for them. Nibble had his two when he was in an Alaska cage so there is plenty of room for them! They're by far the best den type thing I've seen to hang from the ceiling. There is also a shop on eBay which I will find the link for and post in a sec, I wish I'd known about it earlier, they have some really fun things to hang from the ceiling like swings and bridges, I've ordered two for Glowy today.

the one I got is 29 x 26 x 19 cm so I assume it is the rat one :3 Is your hamster able to get straight into it or do they need a bridge thing up to it?

Nibble is rubbish at climbing so he wouldn't get up to them on his own, Glowy is a proper spiderham so he has no problem! They both have bendy tubes running up to them, here's a pic of Glowy's, the tube runs from the Sputnik to the ground now tho as he was trying to walk along the top of it little hooligan! Nibble has these tubes attached to each of his sputniks and one running between them. The best ones are the pets at home purple/small ones, they're the perfect size for the opening on the Sputnik.

That looks amazing! Sven is a pretty good climber I often see him monkey barring it across the roof which is really funny so I hope he can get into it that way if not I will do your idea, what is holding the tube up?

The tube is held in by the Sputnik, the Sputnik top comes off so it's easy to secure in. You'll see what I mean when yours arrives, it's hard to describe!

Re the monkey barring, they can hurt themselves falling from the top of the cage so it's a good idea to add in something to mitigate this - I've used a grass mat here (unfortunately he chews it so it's not a permanent solution for him) but whatever you use it should break their fall so thei don't hit anything hard. I've set it up so whatever stupidity he gets up to monkey barring he either doesn't fall far or falls onto the soft substrate. This is Glowy's current set up:



I'm going to be adding in probably another Sputnik behind the one he has, and a hay house by the ramp.

His sputnik came today!



Its only been in his cage for maybe 45 minutes? and I've seen him in it about 5 or 6 times now. he seems to like it!
