Wooden replacement shelf for Alaska?
I've been looking for a wooden shelf to replace the ugly black plastic one in my Alaska hamster cage and I can't find any large shelves! I can only find the small ledges and its really frustrating.
I managed to find this...
Trixie Small Animal Wooden Corner Shelf - FREE DELIVERY | eBay
But the medium and large are not in stock! (not sure what size i'd need...)
Anyone have any links to some large shelves that will fit in my cage?

Re: Wooden replacement shelf for Alaska?
Been looking for the same thing as a second shelf for Bodie's new Barney - the problem with most shelves is the depth is only around 15cm, which is big enough for a ham, but not if you want to put toys or houses on them.
I've just bought this one from eBay:
30cm Deep Solid Pine Shelf Platform Rabbit Guinea Pig Chinchilla Cage | eBay
Hasn't arrived yet, but it looks nice & solid. The seller also offers a 25cm deep version, but the 30m would fit fine in the Alaska.

I was going to suggest that seller too (Ranchhouse cages). They have shelves in all different shapes and sizes - check out their 'other items for sale'.

Re: Wooden replacement shelf for Alaska?
Or you could get a big rabbit house like mine! It makes a really good wooden platform and a house underneath. Because it is quite tall I sit it on the base of the cage and half fill it with substrate inside and pile the substrate up round the outside. It sits a couple of inches above the height of the cage base. It's not quite the full width of the cage - about 2 to 3 inches shorter, but it makes a good platform. I got mine from Porton Aquatics but Amazon sell it too.

Here it is in Charlie's cage (which is slightly smaller than the Alaska):
I have a lava ledge shelf slightly above it covering the gap at the back.

I've also seen people use shoe boxes to act as a level. Then cut an entrance for underneath it as a secluded place for them.
