Detolf look alike

I am in contact with someone who has a detolf look alike for 20 dollars. It looks exactly like one, except its not and it has a light at the top, which they tell me I can remove. I think if I remove it, there will be a hole but if there is I can easily seal it up with a cut of wood and some aquarium silicone.

Does anyone else have this as a cage? I'm wondering if it will work still, even though its not a detolf. The shelves come out but I worry about gaps. I'm going to look at it tomorrow.

If it works for you, you may want to use a air vent in the hole left from the light for added ventilation.

How does the opening at the back work? That will be the top. Curious how it will work. Looks awkward to transport. But I don't see why it wouldn't work if it looks doable to you. For 20 bucks it's worth a shot imo. Let us know how you get on.

Looks good! These detolf look alikes can cost a fortune new! I checked out other glass cabinets once to see if I could find a shorter one and they're all really expensive! will the door come off so you can make a mesh lid? Or if not - vents in the end parts (also like Nancy's suggestion!).
