Default Cage Question?

Hi guys
Iv got a cage question.
I dont have a hamster yet,it wll be kept n my bedroom where I need quiet so I know bar chewing would drive me nuts
Im trying to decide between a bin cage or a proper cage.
Iv worked out to do what I want to a bin cage and will cost about £11 to make with just wire in the lid
OR
Iv seen a bargin (a real bargin) cage that i know is perfect for syrians. It can be flat packed so can be put away.
I know logically the bin cgae would be better for me but I think the cage would be better for the hamster.

What would you go with?
Thanks

it's hard to say without knowing what the cage is

In general, hamsters don't care what their cage is - like, if it's a proper cage or not. they have no concept of that. If it's interesting and has all the things they enjoy (house, wheel, toys etc.) then they won't care.

Basically, go with whichever is bigger, i'd say!

The cage is the Imac Fantasy
The bin cage has the same footprint and id be adding an extra shelf.
For the bin cage all il id be buying is the bin and Plastikote to waterproof the shelf

if they're the same size then i'd just go with whichever is better for you. The hamster won't care that the bin isn't an actual cage

Would approaching the hamster from above in a bin cage hinder taming?

nah, not really. Not if they can see you coming. I've done all my taming in cages with roof access
