Default Just ordered new cages!!

I'm so naughty, just as well I have a very hardworking and forgiving husband (don't ever quote me on that, my opinion of him is subject to change at any moment!)

I am getting rid of my Rotastak, I know I was such a strong advocate of it at first but now its really annoying me. Even the big rainbow runners are too small for them (and they are bigger than the old Rotastak built in wheels.) I looked at getting free standing wheels but there was not enough room height wise or width wise on any level for an 8" wheel. Also cleaning 3 of them out was taking at least 2 hours, not easy to fit in when the kids interrupting every two seconds. I have already got Wiley in an new wire cage with a jumbo Rolly wheel which is better for him. I changed him first as he is the biggest now and is not bothered by doing much but running on a wheel(!). His cage is a harrisons Twickenham (L49xh48.5xw32.5cm) which was great value and will last until I can afford a bigger one (next month probably). See the picture below...is it okay for now..?

Anyway, have just ordered 2 Imac fantasy's with extensions from Tesco direct. Bargain really, the main units were £33.75 and the extensions were £13.49. I know I will have to get bigger wheels too, I have one other jumbo Rolly already. I'm so excited, can't wait to have them arrive, hopefully they will come on Tuesday.

Your Hammies will love the Imac Fantasy's, my little robos do. I was going to get the extensions for mine but there was plenty of room for a lone dwarf in just the Imac! Your Syrians will love the extra room though!!

There is something exciting about getting new cages, i'm currently deciding on a Duna Deluxe or a Zoo Zone 1 for our new addition Rolo!!

Lol, which one are you going to go for? I seem to have spent most of my evenings over the last week searching the internet and ebay to find what I wanted, what had good reviews, what I had room for and what I could afford. In the end I snap bought them cause dear hubby thought it was a good deal. Had to get them quick before he changed his mind...

I have people coming this afternoon to buy some of of my Rotastak so thats £30 off the outlay too...or off the new wheel etc..LOL!!

Awww Haziebaby. Remember you did not have room for anymore cages once the babies arrived LOL. Now they are moving to mansions I really do not think you need to change Wily's cage as it looks fab. Plenty space and attractive. More than big enough for an adult syrian I'd say. Many people like the Imac's so I'm sure you will be pleased with them. I think there are reviews on the cage review section. Looking forward to seeing them in their new palaces

Thanks Souffle, I'm glad you think that about Wiley's cage. I might leave him with it for a while and see how he goes. Its been good for him to be more exposed than in the Rotastak as he is getting less shy. I ordered him one of the bendystick bridge things to join his two top levels up and that will give him more space to climb. I'll post pics when the new cages arrive.

I think it's the Duna Fun Maxi Deluxe thingy that i'll be opting for, looks like a nice big cage, well most cages are big for Robos lol. If not it'll probably be the Zoo Zone 1 or if not another Imac Fantasy. lol

Yeah that was a good deal, I found the Imac's on Shane Todds website for £29 and ordered 2 before Xmas but they were having trouble getting stock in, so cancelled the order and had my money back, not sure if they have managed to get any in now!

That cage looks great for him! All kinds of fun stuff in there. I do know how you feel about wanting bigger and better as I do the same, as you saw in my "cage upgrade" topic. And you are right, it is so exciting getting new cages. If only the hamsters knew they were coming or they'd be excited too! I guess we do the excited bit for both parties then

Lol I love ordering new cages!

And you've just made me look at the discount on the Tesco website.... and tempted me.... but I've not ordered anything just yet.

*Personally* I would get a bigger cage for Wiley as it's so short in length and really Syrians do benefit from a longer cage but you've done it up really well. Am not suprised really that the Rotastak got to you in the end - I had it yearrsss ago (about 20 years ago lol) and I remember even then what a pain it was to clean.

I like the Imac's - got a bargain one for my Robo' recently that I'm really pleased with.

Well my new cages are here!! Came this afternoon, I was very pleased and surprised!!! Have spent all night setting up the Imac's and cleaning out the Rotastak and listing it on Ebay!! I am very happy with them. All of a sudden they don't really have any toys so will have to shop, just cause they have so much more space. I have put in what toys they have, a bunch of Rotastak tubes in, an empty toilet roll and will have to get my thinking cap on what to make for free!! I luckily had a spare Jumbo rolly ready and ordered a 3rd for Spice yesterday from ebay so hopefully that will come soon. The hamsters are happy enough after a thorough investigation and did bed down in the proper place, whether they stay there remains to be seen! The big Imac's do make Wiley's cage look very small. I will see how much I get back from the Rotastak before I decide when to upgrade him. I really can't afford it this month.

Hanlou..go on you know you want to!!!

It's Really good that you decided on the IMac fantasys as I have one for treacle and she absolutely loves it shes forever racing up and down the levels. Plus since they dismantle so easily theyre really easy to clean out. I am sure all hamsters will be really cheery and bouncy with all the space they have now!!
