Default Duna fun and accessories for a WW? Help.

Split posted for verymissberry:

I got one, a Duna Fun the bigger one for Chloe my WW! I now need to get new tubes and stoppers to attach it to her little savic spelos cage. Poor thing was a little freaked out when she was put in her new cage and she still hasn't made it to the 3rd level yet and when she got up to the 2nd walked to the edge and straight off. Silly thing!

I'm going to get tubes, stoppers and a hammock off ebay. I wondered if anyone has a hammock or sleeping bag for a hamster? I'm not going to get one that's really fluffy as I understand they can be dangerous. I'm just after interesting things for her to climb on, as she'd just started to climb and hang from the bars of her old cage.

I bought a new wheel the regular silent spinner, but feel its a bit big as she keeps loosing her leg out of it and I'm worried about her hurting her self. The little one is way to small though, any advice?

Happy Chloe!!!

Hi! Well regarding the wheel - I'd definitely leave it in for her. She'll get used to it in no time. The Regular sized Silent Spinner is the ideal size for a WW; anything smaller would be too small. My WW had one, my Robo' hamster has one, my Chinese hamster has one and my other dwarf hamsters also all have this size. So it's fine!

It just may take a bit of getting used to, that's all. The same goes for the cage really, it just might take a bit of getting used to the extra space she has, but she will get used to it! I put my Robo' into a bigger cage the other day and at first she was a bit befuddled but she's now very happy in it.

For both toys and the Ferplast tubes / stoppers you need I can recommend Equinecaninefeline - you may find they work out cheaper than ebay as they only charge once for delivery and it's a very reasonable price. You can find the tubes you need (((Here))) and This Stopper Here will 'bung up' any holes that need stopping up. :P

Another great website for hamster climbing toys which I can also recommend is Zooplus.

Hope this helps a little! x

Thanks, I'll leave the bigger wheel in and see how she fairs. I'm gonna check out the other sits now, as my partners been drawing up how many and what tubes we need. Typical graphic designer, planning her cage out.

Thanks

The topic of hammocks and fluffy beds came up recently on another forum, and what I took from it was that you have to guage the personality of the hamster before you get one. If it's big on pouching and chewing, then perhaps you want to find another toy for him. If you think yours will be okay, just watch for nibbling of it and remove it if it appears they're taking bites out of it. Some hams just aren't as interested in the chewing of certain things like others.
