Re: Just ordered new cages!!
Lol yeah I probably will!! Especially now I've seen your pics and they *are* the navy barred version. I don't like the yellow barred version (Tiny my Robo' has one navy bars and one yellow bars) as you can't see through it.... it was so cheap that I feel justified in getting an extension and then I may try and get the yellow barred one coated anyway. (My husband thinks he can get it powder coated via his work) - so she'd then have an absolutely *massive* three tier mansion!
But the beauty of the Imac's is that no matter how tall you go they are always safe. They look fantastic, am so pleased for you.

Re: Just ordered new cages!!
Dearest hubby just came up with something I thought I would run by you all...
If I bought two Imac extension's could I block off in the middle and have 2 hamsters in it, one in top 3 levels and one in the bottom 2. It would solve a lot of space issues as we don't have the room width ways for 2 Imac's. Also it would be a whole lot cheaper especially if I get 2 on offer from Tesco...
I don't think weight would be a problem as the levels just come apart so easily, not sure how I would block it but don't think it would be that difficult...
What do you think...?

Re: Just ordered new cages!!
I think it would work well and it's a really good idea.
I know that some people have done this with mice for example. Only thing I would say is that the top hamster would have slightly more room (as in they would have the roof bit) but if they had two extensions each I don't think they'd mind anyway as they'd have plenty of room.
Someone said that Rotastak plugs fit perfectly in the holes to bung them up if you need to do so!
ETA: There's a picture {{{Here}}} of a 4 tier Imac Fantasy cage.

Re: Just ordered new cages!!
I don't see why not as long as the gap was very securely closed off and they did not wee on top of the downstairs hamster! I would put the male individually though in case the smell of the ladies drives him bananas then you can move him away a bit! You would need a little nest box for one as it would not have an attic. I still think Wily's cage is fine though

What a good idea!! It's giving me ideas now lol!! Maybe you could block the hole with a little food dish, something like the one from Savic Rody, they are small and fit quite snug. Also they do hole blockers for the Imac Yo-Yo cage and wonder if they might fit the Imac Fantasy, they sell them on www.shanetodddirect.co.uk Just had a look and they are 79p each!

Having just looked at the Yo-Yo cage, it seems that the hole plugs are too big for the hole inside the Imac!!

Re: Just ordered new cages!!
I think i'll leave Wiley for now anyway but definitely something to thing about further down the line!! I have visions of a huge floor standing 8 tier or something for the living room! Don't need to worry about a cupboard or shelves then!!
Souffle- hadn't considered the whole peeing thing...!
Oh and Rotastak plugs are too small, I tried it already!!

Re: Just ordered new cages!!
Splitting the Imac's is a great idea! Although I do agree with souffle that you might keep the male separate I haven't owned an Imac but I have heard the extensions being a problem for bedding coming out the sides, so you might think about adding something around the outside of the level to allow you to put a sufficient amount of fluff for them. But you've probably already got plans for that!
