Sisal String
Hello, I have some tubes and things that I would like to attach to my hamsters cage, but to do this I need sisal string. I can't seem to find anywhere that sells animal safe string all the places I have seen it say for outdoor use which I'm guessing means it's been treated.
Anyone know of anywhere that sells it?

Re: Sisal String
I've bought it from ratrations you might also find it at places that sell toys for birds.
Sizal - £0.25 : ratRations.com

Re: Sisal String
Cypher you are an excellent mine of information! I bought some on Amazon but it ended up being a huge hank of really thick rope rather than string lol! It was cheap so I binned it. Have just checked out your link Cypher - the smallest is 6mm which is what I ordered from Amazon and it seemed really thick.. How thick is the stuff you got? I ended up getting some from some sizal tunnels I bought that had the string with them. The tunnels were no good - sharp bits all over the place, so I just took all the string off them. They cost £7 for a pack of 3 from viovet and some long bits of sisal string with them.
These are the ones - each 'hide' has two pieces of sisal string looped through, one at each end. I just pulled them out and used two of them to tie a cardboard tube to the top of the cage. And expensive way to buy 12 pieces of string but the string was just right. The hide tunnels were awful though - not suitable for a hamster.

Re: Sisal String
I looked at it on Amazon too but couldn't quite get my head around what I might end up buying lol!
6mm isn't really that thick, I'm not using it at the moment & can't remember where I put it otherwise I'd take a photo to show you, sorry about that, I have so much hamster stuff I can never find anything!

Re: Sisal String
I have just ordered some from ratRations postage was a bit costly just for string so I ordered some wooden mushrooms to make up for it. (So they get a new toy and I feel better about postage win win I guess )

Re: Sisal String
lol! that's the problem with ratrations, I always find myself searching to see what else I can buy for the same amount of postage when I only really need one thing! Never fail to find something I really "need" though!
