The rosewood stuff is still dangerous as the fibres can tangle them up and cause blockages. It's labelled as safe but not worth the risk.

I just rip up toilet paper for bedding, it's a lot safer and a lot cheaper.

I'm pretty sure kapok tree pods don't have fibres that can tangle up or cause blockages. The German hamster rescue sites list them as safe nesting material and they are usually overly careful close to fanatic when it comes to hamster care and safety (for example they are totally against hamster balls and tubes), so I tend to trusting that information. But of course I can't be 100% certain, so maybe it's better to be careful

I didn't know that either Peanut, I generally do trust the Germans but that stuff still makes me nervous!

The only warning attached to seems to be is that some brands can be too dusty. Apparently the fibres are really short, so they can't tangle and it is really light, comparable to a dandelion seed head. But I totally can understand that it makes you nervous. Maybe I will order one in the new year to test it out and post about it

It is very light and I found some on me, picked it off and it blew away like dandelion fluff

Can it be inhaled by the hammies? That seems to be an issue with some of the bedding that are sold for small pets.

I spoke to someone about the rosewood kapok tree bedding and they said it had got caught around their finger before giving it to their hamster. I think it's still risky and there are better alternatives.
