Default would this be ok for a syrian?

just looking at cages as i should be picking up my new hammy this weekend, i was going to make a bin cage but we have all been poorly here and i just dont have time or energy. so i was looking at this... http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/pet-s ... edium.html
would it be ok for a syrian with plenty of space? i can add levels myself using various toys to keep him entertained but just want to know if its suitable before i pay out.
i would prefer a cage like this rather than with bars as i always had chewers before and the noise drives me bonkers!

thanks in advance xx

Yep, it would be brill for her, so long as the top is meshed so she can't escape!

It looks like a fantastic cage, bigger than mine. The only thing that you may need to be concerned about is the bar spacing. It's categorized as a rabbit home, so you may need to put some of that mesh on it (I forget what it's called) to keep your hamster from squeezing between the bars.

Yes, this cage is ideal. (although i cant believe it is marketed as a rabbit cage as it is farrrr too small!)
I have this cage for one of my robos. He loves it, and you can fit so many toys in there, and there is plenty of floor space.
As mentioned in the above posts, you definately need to mesh the top with something-a syrian can certainlly fit through the bars, even a really podgy one (One of my syrians escaped this weekend-he is really chunky- and i found him asleep in the robo's zoozone!)
Also, bear in mind you may need a sippy water bottle, or to place the cage up against a wall to put a normal water bottle in there, as there is a hole for it, but nowhere to hook it on! I opted for the normal water bottle and placed the cage against a wall to hold it in place, but velcro and even cable ties have been reccommended to resolve the water bottle issue

Oh, and it is really easy to clean. A definate plus!

Your syrian will be a lucky hammy to have such a nice big home

You can also 'melt' holes in the top of the cage plastic to make two small holes to fit some looped garden wire in to hold the bottle up.

I actually have a meat fork (the long, two pronged sort) that I keep for the sole purpose of melting holes in plastic so I can attach things! Melting doesn't weaken the plastic and there's no danger of cracking it as there is with drilling.

I just put the metal prongs in my gas cooker flame then poke them into the plastic and hey presto! Holes! Though obviously you do need to be careful when doing this.

I just use a big water bottle on my ZooZones!

Btw, you can get the next size up for a similar price on ebay (or the ZZ1 cheaper too).

The meat fork melting is such a good idea! I never even thought to do that.....
I got my ZZ from eBay too at a reduced price, although i have seen them for as little as £4.99 on there.

congrats on ordering that cage, it looks really nice. Might want to aqquire some fine mesh to cover the lid though if your going to put platforms in there as the bar spacing looks pretty big and if you have platforms the hammy might be able to reach them to climb out.

oh and your from stockport i was in stockport twice this weekend getting hamster items (couldnt carry everything on friday so had to return on saturday for the remainder, hehe) from pets at home. Its a very nice pets at home store.
