Default replacement for fluffy bedding?

Okay so i haven't ever used the fluffy bedding but i know is very bad and i shall never use it. Despite it coming up to summer, i want to know what i could as a replacement for fluffy bedding in the winter to keep Dinky warm? Not too keen on loo roll because its sometimes quite dusty when i shred it. Any ideas

I personally use Toilet Paper and I don't find it dusty? But pet stores often make or stock a 'paper bedding' which can be used:

UK:
Snowflake Small Animal Paper Bedding 70g | Pets At Home

US:
Carefresh Crinkles Paper Pet Bedding at PETCO

Some brands of toilet paper can be dusty. High quality ones usually are not, in my experience. What's wrong with them using the bedding they have, to build a mound and sleep in? I would think aspen or Carefresh-type bedding would be warm.

There's also crinkled paper you can buy, when we got Coffee the lady brought us a bunch in pink and brown.

I give mine torn up toilet paper (if you can get charmin, I find it's not very dusty) but she also stuffs her nest with her normal substrate (Kaytee clean n' cozy) so you can just let them do that if you like.

I've also seen people (mostly ones who do natural- style cages) offer Timothy or alfalfa hay as nesting material, so that may be an option if you're still reluctant to use toilet paper

We use paper based pet bedding, no dust at all in ours I think its safebed but can't remember off the top of my head (we tend to order once every 6-12 months and I dont really check the name between orders lol)

there's nothing wrong with it, he has lots and lots of bedding so its deep enough to burrow forever! Just thought it might be a nice change

Understandable. I've considered a different texture myself. but they do well with their normal substrate too.

My hammy seems to like the paper bedding - I put a few bits in the corner of his cage and next day they're all stowed away in his little nesting house. It's very sweet
