OAP Hamster Housing Question (Jack 72)
After getting a Ferplast Mary for Poppet, the next cage issue to sort out is Biscuit's cage. She is currently in a Leon cage (three levels) but due to her age is starting to struggle to get up the levels and I really want to get a new cage before the problem becomes bigger, as I'm pretty sure she'll be trying to get up the levels long after she really should be doing. Looking at the cages apart from the Ferplast Mary I have for Poppet (which is most probably too big for the space) the Jack 72 looks suitable, but I have two potential problems that I hope someone with the cage can help with!
1. Looking at the online pictures it looks okay, but can one / both part levels be moved to the bottom of the bars without causing any problems e.g. blocking doors. With my current cage I can't move the levels any further down to create less steep ladders due to the doors being in the way and I'd like to keep one extra lowish level for the time being as she is still quite active.
2. The depth is said to be 44cm, but I'd be grateful if someone could tell me what the depth of the cage is from one cage foot to the other. As my current cage (online) says the depth is 36.5cm, but actually the difference between the feet where it rests on the surface is about 28cm.
The drawers the cage needs to fit on has a depth of 38/39cm and a width of 80cm.
Thank you!
