Default Best cage layout for Robo's?

Hello there!

I have a huge cage with three levels. I was wondering what advice you guys would give as to what to put in it for Roborovskis. I know they are fast and love to run around, so is a lot of open space good? What about things to climb on and over? Multiple routes/paths to different things? Do they like climbing over stuff, digging into stuff? Do they like interactive toys like rolling things or tearing things apart?

Basically... what's best in your opinion!

Hi crabby I don't know much about Robo's only that they are fast and cute . I would imagine a plastic type cage arrangement is best and can only suggest that whilst you wait for an experienced robo human to come along, you could have a look at the cage review section on the forum.

All ready have thanks Suga!

That's why I have gone from a Savic Rody for my two girls to a Ferplast Duna Funa Maxi They now have all the space they'll ever need!

The cage is approximatley 75x55x45, has three levels and is practically a spitting image of the Ferplast Duna Fun only bigger.

The only issue I have with it at the moment is that I feel there is a lot of wasted space above the middle level.

Ive found my robos like space to run around with tubes & boxes to climb in and over, For mine I bury tubes and create burrowing sections.

A few of my setups

Theres usually allot more bedding to dig in the bamboo section

My girls have a huge bin cage, with 2 silent spinners, a flying saucer and lots of toys that they can hide in or under, they love tubes. They have double the amount of toys than the others

You can see my Robo lay out in the 2008 'show your cage' (sorry Im 2 lazy to open Photobucket )

Mine pretty much zoom up & over everything. They particuarly like the wooden 'Barrel' from 'The Range', which they now use instead of a ladder to climb up a level. Sometimes I like to have the base of the tank relatively empty & sometimes I put things in - I have found they venture out more with the toys so that they can hide if big scary me comes along & makes them jump

Another great 'toy' is drift wood - again from the range & for only £1.99, or you get it from an aquatic shop. I originally brought it for my fish tank but then I tried it with the Robos & the fish never got it! But I did buy them some more! It depends if you want it to look natural (which is my preference at the moment). I like the stick bridges you get, sometimes they sit on top of them, sometimes they drag their millet in it & sometimes they sleep in there & sometimes they use it as a ladder!

ETA: They also love a good dust bath - & I love watching them roll about
