A Desert-inspired Habitat
I made it from an old bookcase. Installed a sliding glass door for viewing and a screen strip on the top for ventilation.
The cave system on the side were made from paper mache as well as the platform where the wheel is.
Drinking bottle was attached using velcro tape ( inspired by the thread i read in here)
Lighting by LED strip although its not a permanent fixture.

Re: A Desert-inspired Habitat
Looks nice. Make sure the water bottle is low enough for the hamster to reach the actual stopper though without having to reach up all the time. This is important in case the hamster becomes ill or old and can`t reach up.
The lighting strip is a nice feature, but a low level light should be used. It`s difficult to tell how bright that strip is? Who lives in the tank a Syrian or a dwarf hamster?

A lone teddy lives there.. the LED is just for photography purpose. I took it out after taking some photos.

It looks nice, I've always wanted a natural looking hamster cage for my hamsters but I think the natural themed cages are best in a tank or DIY cage
I would just put the bottle a bit lower because your hamster may not be able to reach.
Also you said your hamster is a teddy? Do you mean syrian, there's no such thing as a teddy hamster, it's just a nickname pet shops give syrian hamsters so they sell

Love those caves! I was going to ask where you bought them so I could get my own but then read your description. Well done! I've got to have a go at more hammy-crafts when I'm settled in the new place

I made those from paper mache.
I got inspired by this post Loo Paper Igloo
minus the tube/tunnel.
but i used the brown paper bag you can get from grocery store to achieve that cave-like color.

A "teddy hamster" is just a name that pet stores give Syrian Hamsters to make them seem rarer or more special and exclusive. Since there only five domesticated species pet shop fall over themselves to discover new hamsters that they can sell for a higher price or that will increase intrest.
I absolutely love you cage! I am so jealous of your set-up Your hammie is very lucky. I wish that I was even a little bit as creative as I could never manage to make a cage like that! I have been plan to do a natural themed cage for my hammies- I just haven't got around to it yet...
