If your hamster is a chewer they will find the bars whatever you do Some of ours are chewers and there really isn't much you can do, some evenings all you can hear is chewing

Yes, Jasper discovered his on the first night I've got 3 toilet rolls cut in half weaved through the bars. He can chew that as much as he likes, and it won't make much noise at all.

I've got a savic rody and my syrian has found the bars already - he lives in my bedroom and while I can tolerate general noise the twanging and crunching of metal bars was really bad last night.

I thought about weaving card through but thought it would affect the ventilation to the cage?
