Hamster bin cage help!
Hi guys!
So, I'm planning on making a bin cage for sonic, he does currently have the Rotastak Genus 200 and I think he might benefit from a more spacious cage which he can explore and I heard about the bin cages. I'm just wondering if anyone could give me any tips on making one. I'm hoping to use 2 x Wilko Underbed Storage Box and Lid at wilko.com on top of each other, will this be big enough because I'm not quite sure how big it is? Otherwise would Crystal Storage Box and Lid Clear 50ltr at wilko.com be better.
Also I have been searching for some decent mesh and I'm not sure what gap in the mesh it should be, I'm really struggling to find mesh tbh and I'm hoping someone can let me know if there's anywhere I can get some good mesh from that is not too expensive and is available in the UK? I want to put the mesh on one of the longer sides of each box and half the lid of the top of the box.
Thankss<3

Re: Hamster bin cage help!
I have several of the 62ltr storage boxes from Wilko's and they are brilliant. Couldn't recommend them enough if Sonic is a dwarf
You can buy mesh sheets from Wickes for about £3-£4 or Wilko's sell them pretty cheap too

Re: Hamster bin cage help!
Thanks! I'm glad you said something about them being too small cus I was thinking about using a 32 at the bottom and a 50 at the top. I was gonna have the top one bigger than the bottom one so the wheel cud go in the top one but I don't want them being too low so I think a 32 is a definite no.
And thanks so much for the mesh I'm useless with that stuff xD

Re: Hamster bin cage help!
I would say it would be safer to go for the 6mm especially if you plan on making 'windows' on the side of the cage

Re: Hamster bin cage help!
I don't know if you've seen it, but somewhere on this forum there's a picture guide for making a bin cage. It helped me a lot when I first made mine - the only thing I did differently was switch from ties to nuts and screws w/washers to attach the mesh.
Darn, I was looking for the link to the thread, but I can't seem to find it >.< I know it's there, and It's probably right in front of my face. I'll edit this post if I find the link to it, but I'm sure some brilliant person will probably find it long before I do. ;p
