Nice cages but not for dwarfs😔

Hey everyone.

Is there anyone here that has or used an idea to adapt a hamster cage for dwarfs? I don't want to buy a cage online that my winter white can squeeze through but all these cages are so nice! Maybe used a mesh wire around it or something??

I recently converted a guinea pig cage for a hamster by covering the wires with 1/4" wire mesh. Looks great and got me a much bigger cage than would otherwise be available to me! Maybe you could do something similar?

That's exactly what I'm thinking! There's such nicer bigger cages out there but the bars are too wide apart! I don't want an escapee�� Do you have a pic I can look at so I can get an idea of what it could look like?

Plenty of people use Zoozone 1 or 2 cages and just mesh the roof bars, is that the kind of thing you mean?

I've also have a Zoozone 1 that I meshed the roof of for my elderly hamster who didn't really need as much space. The lid never did close properly but on this second project using a full-sized gp cage I found that I had no such problems. I just cut panels of wire to fit different spots and everything still worked on the cage when I was done!

As far as I am aware both the Barney and Alexander cages are suitable for dwarf hamsters and they are great, large, cages.

The alexander from zooplus is fine for a dwarf due to the bar spacing and is a huge 100cm long (ish)Or the barney is also an option from zooplus at 82cm long same size bar spacing (i have the barney) its a great size and a really well made cage.

Brain Girl- That's a great job on the conversion you did! It's giving me great ideas! That Alexander cage is a bit pricey compared to some great cages out there. The UK websites I've been browsing on are petplanet.co.uk and cagesworld.co.uk. The second one had such huge choice and at great prices!! There's actually so much that I don't know which one to pick

But I may end up having to get that Alexander cage considering that two hammies are going to live in it
