Talking Wooden shelves for Alaska

I've just ordered an Alaska (currently £40 on zoo plus)

And I'm not huge on the plastic shelf, where could I buy a wooden one big enough? Or is it easier to get a piece of wood cut and plastickote it?

Super happy I checked zoo plus. I almost bought a Mary from p@h on Saturday for £70!!!

Try DIY shops or builders yards for off-cuts of plywood. It`s easy to saw to size and all you need to do is screw four small hooks into the ends to hook onto the bars of the cage. Plastikote or Japlac could be used to coat the wood. Pine shelving can also be used but shelves in pine are usually thick and heavy, where plywood is thinner, but still very strudy and won`t bend.

The only catch with plywood is that I've heard the glue holding it together can be really dangerous when chewed. Pine can be more costly and heavier but we prefer it for our shelves

Thanks!
There's a DIY shop literally 1min walk from my house (3 houses away) and they cut wood so I'll ask them to cut some once I've got the cage.
Can't wait for the cage to come!
