Default Glass Jar as Bed

Hey all,

I have places a clean glass jar in my hamsters cage after cleaning her out yesterday.

This morning she has taken to using it as a bed (instead of the two expensive ones I've brought her grrrr lol) anyway I'm concerned due to the level of condensation on the side of the glass. I don't really feel comfortable with her sleeping in 'wet' conditions what's your thoughts?

Thanks,

C

perhaps not the best choice for a bed, yes I would be concered as the condensation wont be good for her, I would empty her bed out and if she made it again in the jar I would remove the jar

How big is the jar? If it's a nice big jar with a big opening it should be fine. Make sure she doesn't over stuff it with bedding.

I gave my Finley a big jar and put it under his bridge, because he's happiest when he has places he can hide. He loves it. I do tip it up slightly so it has better for air flow.
I was worried he would move in and over stuff it with bedding, but I feel it for condensation and it's always perfectly dry. When he's hot he doesn't go in there anyway, and just flops on his belly outside.

I would wait until your hamster is up and about late in the evening and whip the jar out and put any bedding inside the jar back into one of the proper sleeping boxes. A jar might be a bit cold in wintertime!
