Default Adding tubes to a wire cage.

Hi, first post here so sorry if I'm repeating something that's been talked about before.
I got a Syrian hamster (Harry) almost two weeks ago. He has a Ferplast Tris, I've bought him a bigger wheel and house plus some toys and chews. He LOVES his hamster ball.
But what I want do do is use a plastic box (bin) to give him an additional play area. How can I connect the two without cutting holes in the wires or the plastic bottom of the cage?
The cage as three doors and I would like to be able to use one of those as instead of cutting a new hole. Is there something I can make/buy that will allow me to convert the door?
Thanks!

HI and welcome. If you are making a bin cage are you going to cut a hole in the side to fit mesh? if so use the plastic you cut and cut it to fit the door using cable ties to attach it and cut a hole in that to attach tubes.

if you cut the hole the right size( might take a bit of measuring and preplanning) you could get it the right size to take the ferplast connecter rings.

The Ferplast connector doesn't fit into a hole but around the protruding part of the clear plastic housing which fits into the rectangular holes in Ferplast modular cages. The strips in the housing which connect to horizontal bars (and probably also the plastic edges in a bin cage and maybe even a small door) are approx. 8cm apart top and bottom and the whole thing approx 9.5cm high x 8cm wide.

As far as I know the only way to get the clear plastic housing alone apart from buying a whole cage is to buy a Ferplast FPI 4820 tube end cap (ebay) which includes the housing, ring and cap.

The easiest way to cut a hole in the plastic which I think will be your best route is a hole saw which fits into an electric drill From there extend the hole to rectangular with a hacksaw and finish with a fine file.

Thanks for the help. I'll try making a section out of the plastic once I've cut a hole in the lid. I'm struggling to find a bin that's long and high enough so that he won't jump out of it. The one I'm currently using he can reach the top of, so once he realises he can stand one toilet roll tube he'll be out!
