Question Savic Rolly Wheel - Where To Buy

Hello!

My Petunia needs a new wheel, hers is pretty chewed-up and now it's lop-sided. She can't run on it without falling off. :\

I want one similar to the original, but it turns out the company no longer makes them. This one is almost the same, but I can't find a place to buy it here in the U.S.

Any help or other wheel suggestions?

I am assuming this is for a dwarf? Or you can always get a larger size

Search for some of these on Google:

Pets International Ltd. pts Wheel Comfort Large
Silent Spinner Wheel Regular 6.5"
Wodent Wheel

These aren't exactly like your wheel, but I like them. The comfort wheel isn't the best in my opinion, but it looks close to the design of the wheel you showed. The silent spinner and wodent wheel are both super quiet. The advantage of the silent spinner is it can be on a stand or attached to a barred cage. The best thing about the wodent wheels are they come in 8 inch, 11 inch, and 12 inch, while the silent spinners only come in 4.5 inch, 6.5 inch, and 12 inch.

I bought the Silent Spinner and for SOME reason, she treats it like a closet. She runs in it for about five seconds, then uses it for storage, lol

The 6.5" inch silent spinner is ideal for a dwarf hamster! I wouldn`t take much notice of her antics, she`s probably a happy girl!

Unfortunately I left it in there for a week when I first bought it and she just didn't use it. Then I started to become concerned because she seemed like she was getting little exercise. I put the original (broken) wheel back in just to see what she would do, and poof! She was all over it.

Can you tell she's a spoiled brat? :P

I'm surprised that anyone would want a Savic Rolly: The small one that came with my Savic Hamster Heaven Metro lasted my then baby Syrian all of a day before it started sagging and became very noisy. I could hear it in a different bedroom with both doors shut.

My current wheel is a Trixie which is very quiet apart from the patter of tiny feet but I might be changing to a Wodent (petplanet.co.uk) which my long-time BFF has and which she swears by. I've seen the Wodent in action and can confirm that it is just as quiet as the Trixie and is more sturdy. But I'm not too sure about the pins holding the Wodent together and the Trixie is easier to clean.

Not sure if a Trixie is available in the U.S. but the Wodent most definitely is available.

If it's just the spindle that's chewed and making it lopsided then you can replace it using a bolt and washers from a hardware shop. It needs oiling it's Vaseline or olive oil but works well (especially for spindle chewers as I've yet to have anyone eat the metal bolt despite their best efforts!).

UPDATE: This morning I caught Petunia HAPPILY running on her Silent Spinner after the 5,298th time! I think she finds it more suitable now that I've found a way to lift it higher off of the bottom of her cage (which also made it harder for her to use as storage, haha). Thank you for all of your tips, I'll let you know if anything changes!
