There are a lot of costs to incur as a pet owner. Not only are the intial costs of the pet & habitat, but there are also costs of maintenance (bedding, food, and the occasional new toy for your hammy), but you want to make sure that you can cover other "unexpected" fees as well...like vet visits and meds if your hamster were to get sick. Those are all things you want to make sure you are able to cover for your little furry friend if you don't have the $$, now might not be the best time for a pet.


I saved a ton making my own bin cage using the below tutorial (but there are tons of tutorials online to use). Again, though...if you don't have the $$ to support all your pets needs, right now might not be the best time.
