Default Meshing a Zoozone cage?

Hey guys,
I'm planning to get a Zoozone cage in the future and I know that they need to be meshed. Can you post pictures of the top of your cages so that I can see what mesh you have used and maybe if you could link the type of mesh you used and where you can buy it from etc.

Thanks :3

who might you be keeping your future zoozone?

i've kept my russians in them without mesh and with toys that reach about 15/16cms tall. no escapes! my robo is in an unmeshed one now, no escapes.

just to put it out there! x

We just use 1cm or 6mm square mesh for any meshing. We buy most of it from a local garden centre, some from Charlies and some from B&Q.
None of our photos show the lids very well but we literally cut the mesh to the right size and cable tied it on.

This sort of stuff - Galvanised Mesh (13mm × 13mm) Panel - 0.6m × 0.9m, 5397007006568
And in giant roll form (which we do actually have at the moment) - Mesh - Galvanised 6m x 0.9m x 13mm, 5397007007107

A single sheet will be plenty though

Fudge is temporarily in a ZooZone 1 so I used 13mm mesh. It was the smallest I could get from B&Q and we went to all our other local DIY stores and couldn't find any smaller.
Here's a link: http://www.diy.com/nav/garden/fencin...skuId=12498593
My mum thought I wouldn't need to mesh it but Fudge proved her wrong when I was halfway through haha

Anyway, here's a picture:
ZooZone Mesh.jpg

I meshed it in 3 sections (between the vertical bars) simply because it made it easier.
When I kept mice in my other ZooZone, I used the same mesh but double meshed it. If you're gonna be keeping tiny hams in there, I'd definitely try and got for smaller mesh.

Meshing one once was enough for me, having to do it twice was a nightmare xD

There's some great instructions on various threads, here are the ones I've found:

oh man I tell you what, meshing a ZZ was lethal haha. I destroyed my forearms and hands just because I wasn't careful enough with the mesh! I just used more from my massive roll from Wilkos, which was like £5 or something? 13mm. the mesh is kept rolled with a long length of extra wire, of which I snipped some off and twisted it round the mesh and the cage lid. had to improvise because I just couldn't find cable ties anywhere?!?! then because every time I had to remove the lid I would cut myself on the mesh underneath, even though I'd trimmed as close to the edges of the mesh as possible, I put masking tape around the edges I touch, which is what the white thing is lol.

Ebay has tons of cable ties at 99p for 100

And yeah... I'm prone to silly injuries so we have a rule that my OH deals with mesh at first. We both know I'd end up the first person on HC in A&E for stitches just from cutting mesh or something lol
I attatch it sometimes but he cuts it. I did still attatch myself to Dusty's cage yesterday though... Came into the room to be told my phone was going so didn't watch the cage close enough. Ended up detatching the mesh from my trouser pocket while on the phone lol

oh I needed them like immediately because I'd already sold the tank and the person was coming to collect the next day, but I'd only just brought the ZZ home! couldn't find them in Homebase but then again there were literally no staff to ask either. I looked in every aisle twice and then floundered a bit, hoping someone might take pity, but no one did as it was really busy.

and gosh yeah I think I've ruined a pair of my jeans already, there are threads coming out of it because they've been hooked onto the mesh, pre-masking tape...

Ah ok that makes sense then. Its a shame you couldn't find any. Poundland sells them and probably other places too...

Er... Thats quite bad. Fortunately my OH is good with mesh so I have to be really silly to get stuck on the stuff. Which I was yesterday. Didn't hurt the trousers though

I had problems meshing too. I cut my hands to pieces doing Fudge's cage at the weekend (and hurt my hand on the cutter things when cutting the mesh)
I got my cable ties from Ebay. Pink ones because I wanted a pink and black theme, but then she had to have her flying saucer back and it ruined the colour scheme we had going xD

Anyway, I'd advise anyone meshing a ZooZone to wear gloves xD and long sleeves too haha
