Default How big of a tank for a Syrian?

Just wanting to know, how small of a tank can a Syrian be housed in?

There's this cute looking Syrian on PetFinder up for adoption by a local shelter. I'm not sure if he comes with the cage he is in or what cage he is in in the first place, it looks like a tank in the pictures. But if he doesn't come with one, I'd get a tank and I just need to know what size to get if I do get him.

His face is just so cute! ^^ I just need my parents permission to allow me to have a third hamster, but they owe me so I think it'd work this time.

But I'm going to meet him first before I decide if I'm going taking him home.

Aawwww he is gorgeous.

For a syrian you should be looking at a tank/cage that is at least 80x50cm, pref bigger if you can.
Tanks are sometimes hard to come by and heavy to move about so a bin cage could be better....a large storage box made into a cage

I know, I can't wait to see him in person. I'm emailing the shelter now with some questions.

Petco always carries a large selection of tanks with a $1 a gallon sale right now, so I'm not worried about finding a tank. A bin cage was my second choice.

I have a 40 gallon tank for my syrian (: There's a lot more space than the bin cage that she was in.

Just be sure when your looking at tanks they they are long and not tall (so that the number of gallons isn't taken up with height). We started ours in a 20gallon, but it was too small. She now has a 35-40 gallon and has lots of room to run and play. I wouldn't go smaller than that.

I haven't gotten an email back from them yet, I hope I hear from them before I visit the shelter later this week.

I'm starting to lean toward bin cage now as I don't have room for a 35 to 40 gallon tank in my room.
