Default Take a look at this cage!

So, I was browsing Crigslist to see what kind of hamster stuff people were selling and I came across THIS:

Custom Built Ferret, Rabbit, Hamster Cage

It would make a good cage for a Syrian, don't you think? The only problem I have with it is that you have to open the whole thing to get inside. That worries me as a hamster might try to jump out and escape every time you go to open the door.

I like it. I might add a little edging to the shelves as a way of stopping the subscrate falling out when you open the door if it was mine.

If you are handy, you could add a small door on each level to make it easier.

Yes, those things would definitely help improve the cage.

I'd love to get it, but my parents are bound to say no. I know the perfect place to put it too.

Asking costs nothing....

Yes, I'll ask later today. They're busy at the moment; dad's at work and mom is overseeing the new sink being put it.

Getting the hamster to put in the cage wouldn't be that hard either, craigslist and petfinder both have Syrians up for adoption.

It actually looks like a hedgehog cage to me Although I am basing this off looking at random threads on hedgehog forums rather than actual knowledge.

... I like looking at "look at my cage" threads for other animals, not just hamsters, even if I don't want to keep said animal

Could be fun
We've got our syrians in rabbit hutches and have put 5mm thick perspex along the edges. Cost about £70 for the perspex for both hutches (including delivery and holes being drilled so we could attatch it) and also makes both girls think a bit before getting out

Hedgehogs would be nice, but I think my parents would accept another hamster before a hedgehog. Plus, hedgehogs need a permit to own in New Jersey and Syrians don't. Dwarfs need permits too, but my two girls already have theirs.

I showed my mom and asked her if I could get it, she said no. No surprise there. A friend of mine showed me this Shakespearean hamster soliloquy thing; here it is:

"Oh! The day draws to a close
But my heart has yet to soothe its trembling
Be calm, good heart!
There is but one way, therein, to stop its anxiety
For it calls, it beckons for the kind touch
Of my Rodent kin;
A hamster, it pleads! Oh, a hamster!
Should you only give me your blessing, dear'st father of mine, dear'st mother of mine,
This tortured one shall collect thy soul's balm!
And peace it shall bring unto me, unto thee!"

I'm going to try that next. I'm also going to use the "I can get it cheaper" tactic; it does say "or Best Offer."
