Re: Modified Zoo Zone large critter cage suitable for a Syrian ?
I have heard of them chewing the base but have always been stopped before they could actually escape.

I think Nat's Honeydo might have chewed out of a ZZ, but she is a very special hamster indeed who I love and want to ham nap

Re: Modified Zoo Zone large critter cage suitable for a Syrian ?
Hamsters are very capable of chewing out of a zoo zone. Genta achieved it within 48 hours of moving in to her brand new ZZ. I know at least two friends who had similar escapes. Thankfully I noticed the foster ham before he chewed all the way through the other. I now place sticky tape or electrical tape on the outside of the cage over the tiny holes in the indented areas of the zoo zone. Without being able to smell the outside through them, chewing seems to be reduced.

Re: Modified Zoo Zone large critter cage suitable for a Syrian ?
Hmm this worries me abit; i know i might get lucky and have a "non chewer" but so far all of my pets have been complete terrors for chewing! When i first got my gerbils they were in a rotastak (i despise these now for all animals) and basically they chewed all the way out in one night!
I think i might buy a back up cage just in case then

I have my wolvie in the same cage & he loves the extra space, he chewed slightly at the water bottle hole but never actually caused any damage its pretty thick plastic. Just make sure its meshed before you put the ham in or they will escape!

I have my 3 gerbils in a zoozone 2 and never have any problems. I give them a ton of bedding and cardboard and they never go near their tank.
