Default About caging??

Hi everyone!

Just one simple question ; when we adopted Peanut, we already had this old but still good habitrail cage. Now, I'm thinking about buying a new cage for him. Do you guys think it might be a trauma for him? Or should we keep him in is old home? (We have Peanut since only 3 weeks).

It would be a great relief to him, coming from a former Habitrail user. Those cages are very small, and the Crittertrails are even worse.

Now, off my step a bit, it should not harm your ham in any way.

I don't think changing cages is a very traumatic thing, as long as they have everything they need (space, food, water, nest, somewhere to toilet, things to entertain them).

My hams have cages at my flat and at my parents-in-law(if we were married)'s house as I spend a lot of time there as I work there during my holiday placements, they adapt fine moving into different cages. I just leave them in peace and quiet for the first night so they can settle in without any added stress.

I changed cages with my two recently, and I transferred the same bedding into the new cage, so at least the scent was familiar. Turns out they didn't have any problem adjusting, in fact they went nuts (in a good way) running around and checking everything out. They went from a single level cage to a tri-level cage with ramps. Seriously, they're like condos and my friends poke fun at me incessantly. So, no worries - they should be fine. And giving them a little treat like carrot or apple wouldn't hurt either.
