Dripping Water Bottles
 

Does anyone know of a water bottle that doesn't drip. I've tried several that say non-drip but they do.

Get the Classic water bottles (the red topped ones). :) Most pet shops and online retailrs stock these. They come with a white wire attachment or you can buy one of those Ferplast bottle holders that clips onto barred cages. Savic also make them. If you use a tank style cage, they can fit through the spout hole and be attached by the wire through the holes already in the perspex.

I have the classic mouse bottles for two of my hams. For the other two hams I have a critter canteen bottle free from ECF and a savic biba bottle. None of them leak, well except for if I push the detachable spout too far towards biba bottle.

I use my little friend bottle for my little man and so far its proven to be good

I've had success with the savic bottles....the only one I've had leak was the Classic red topped ones. I also had one of them that barely released any water so it took ages for the ham to get a decent drink (annoying when it's clacking away at 3am :p)

The only ones i find that don't leak at all are the fereplast drinky ones.

I think its trial and error though because pepper is fine on the classic red topped ones, but Mona wasn't. My piggies made the living world and the red top ones leak, but not the fereplast drinky ones, i've never had a leaky fereplast drinky, hence that being my recommendation :)

We use the classic, but to be fair the russians did manage to destroy one completely lol
They made it leak by piling up shavings until they reached the spout and somehow rusted the ball bearings. They did the same with some other bottles but all the rest were fine as soon as we moved them higher up.
Have got nine bottles of that type in use at the moment though (including the replacement for the one the russians wrecked lol) and all are definetly fine. No leaking, no dripping, is all good for all of them :)

Sometimes it helps to fill the waterbottle to the max with water.
Once, I went to the pet shop to complain that the waterbottle I had just bought was leaking and they said it was because I wasn't filling it to the top. To my surprise, they were right.
Mind you, I've had many other waterbottles that work just fine even when I fill them halfway.

Thanks a lot everyone. I usually fill mine about two thirds full. I'll try filling it to the top. If that doesn't work I'll get another one.

I agree with filling them right to the top. It helps the vacume inside the bottle. Once you turn it up the right way, it`s important to tap the ball-baring a few times to release the water. If it seems slow to come out or doesn`t come out, take the bottle top off again and spill out just a little of the water. Screw the lid on again but not too tight. Tap the bottle again in it`s correct position until it releases water properly and do so again once hung in the cage, just to double check. You will get the odd bottle that does cause issues. I usually don`t trust those and replace them right away. A bottle should work well at all times.
