My first escape
Had my first escapee tonight. It was my little trapeze artist, cage trashing girl - Cara! Somehow she managed to reach the roof of this cage and slide it across.

It does slide quite easily, but I still don't know how she reached it, never mind moved it. I think it was because I was feeding and had started with the other cages when I usually start with her. She obviously got impatient. I now have the bars taped up.[/img]

Oops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well she's just done what her mum did (to get away from her and her siblngs!) except that her mum had a shelf to stand on. How's Cara managed that then?
Naughty Cara :P (her sister is an Imac escape artist who chewed the bars round the door so much that she pinged the door open and escaped twice (the second time with two bulldog clips attached ).
I'm glad she's in the rex now but I'd better watch her!

Well the grass is always greener on the other side of the bars isn't it Cara! I bet it was her 'night' as we always find they try to get to the boys then
She takes after her Auntie Sonni who has escaped three cages and spent a few nights in a top drawer where she had made a nest in some chewed up hats and gloves and dragged in a whole honey nut treat bar. Quite a feat really up three drawers!
Glad she is home safe and sound Basia

Hmm, she has mischievious genes doesn't she!
I think it is because she has grown so much since I moved her into her new cage. She has been on a rapid growth spurt, she seems to grow from day to day when I handle her.
Anyway I watched her after I put her back last night and she is tall enough to reach the bars when she stands on the space station roof. She then moves the bars with her feet and pulls herself up. Clever little girl! I, however, am cleverer - I have sellotaped the bars in place.
I think a nice satin roan husband might be the answer

Hehehehe...
I once found Harley curled up, with full pouches, in a tub of Sunflower seeds, his idea of heaven I guess

Wow Cara I am impressed with your gymnastic feat!
Glad you got her back in quickly Gill - and no harm done. Those personality genes certainly seem to be evident in all the Carapaws dont they?

They certainly are! Cara is always up to something, she is a very lively, inquisitive girl. My babies mostly take after their father - so laid back they are horizontal. (Having said that Gizmo was trying very hard to open his Imac door last night and he is on the shelf above Cara so perhaps there was love in the air!)

I think I can say this all goes back to their grandad Nelson! Though a beautiful tempered hamster he was always on the go and up to something! Paws is just the same. Napoleon is like a fluffy Nelson and does the same routines his grandad did. He is even in his old Gabber in the same position and sometimes we see Nelson in his face Long may the gene continue I say.

Hear Hear! You'll find no argument from me! I love our little Bronte, and all the generations (chocolate and custard) that make her the friendly little scamp she is

I think you may be onto something there - my last lot of babies last August had a few escaping members in it. The mum was one for taking off on her own but would return if the food was shaken. Out of the babies one escaped three times around my room, one who went to a friend escaped twice, the second time she was missing for about 2 months and was found fitter than ever!
