Default Aarrghhh! New address for Milly....

Well she's finally done it - Milly's Imac bar chewing has been getting worse and worse (along with Smartie's) and I've been planning to move both of them into Gabber's for a while.

Well tonight Milly woke up about an hour ago and was chewing for Great Britain ....I got her out for a cuddle and a run and......aarrgghh......she's cut the side of her face

It's tiny but obviously I can't let it get any worse:

Sooo....she now lives here:

I'm about to move Smart's into our other Rex now

I'm disappointed - the Imac is a really nice cage. I suppose I should be thankful that our three boys who are in Imacs don't bar chew. Kitty does - but only a bit and she's distractable with wooden chews. Gah! I ned that new shelf unit NOW

Oh no poor Milly! Hopefully she will like her new home better and maybe she will learn not to chew!

This happened to Red when she was in a bar cage, she also had a cut on her lip and had also rubbed her nose so it was bleeding too. Strangely enough when she moved into a tank cage she never tried to chew the roof! She obviously learnt her lesson!

I don't know if its because of the chewing position but even though some of ours chew the roof bars they have never injured themselves doing it ~ the only ham who injured themselves was Nelson, who bruised his leg after acrobatting on the roof and falling off!

In preparation for our new gabbers coming I bought a shelf unit this weekend (measured it and everything - aren't you proud?)

The Gabbers dont fit on it - because of the way to corners are! So now I have to buy another booo

We need to do an Ikea trip weekend after next, let me know if you find anything in the meantime.

Poor Milly, I hope her face heals up soon.

I also bought new shelving units for the Gabbers (now have room for 8 ), I got them from hombase where they were reduced and a brilliant price and they are perfect for them! They hang over the edge about 5cm, but are perfectly stable. I'm not sure if they still sell them and can't for the life of me think what they ae call - but maybe you could check it out.

They're light wood, with metal poles which cross at the back forming an upside down V.

Oh dear, naughty Milly. I hope it hasn't caused too much damage.
She looks well settled in her new gabber though. You will be sleeping in the hamster room and moving the hamsters into your bedroom at this rate! (As will I )

oh wow, I have to say I love the idea of that bridge tied up there to stop her bar chewing. I used to try every thing. I got a few books ruined from foolishly thinking it would put the hammy off biting the bars.... "oooh.... tasty cardboard bedding..."

Well it's a lot quieter in here now with my 4 worst bar biters (Minnie, Molly, Milly and Smartie) all settled in Gabbers with wooden bridges stopping them chewing

In fact....what's that I can hear???.......Oooooh - NOTHING :P

Actually I can hear the lovely sound of hammies running on wodent wheels - I love the noise they make and it's been drowned out by the sound of teeth on metal for too long here!

I used to use Ikea shelf units but also got some from Homebase using my vouchers and they have a great sale on just now. I ended up in Ikea today though and got some Antonius in the Bargain corner so am busy putting them together now. I do like this range as you get a shelf with a lip to help keep the cages on and are wide enough for two Ferplasts side by side.

I do love her cage enrichment, I hope she is happy and her poor nose heals well.
