Default Silent Spinners in the UK!!

I paid a visit to Jollyes today, a petfood warehouse type shop, I was very impressed - good range of products, cheapest prices I've seen in shops AND they don't sell livestock

But the best thing - they stock Silent Spinners!! They had the medium one for £4.99. I thought it was worth posting as SS only seemed to be available through importation or ebay.

Strange tonnes of stores in England and Northern Ireland but nothing in Scotland - I have seen these guys in Lisburn but never been in - will have to have a look next time I am over - probably end of June. Thanks Emma

The standard size of SS for hamsters is way to small for a full-grown Syrian hamster, I had one for Gerald for a short time because his comfort wheel would make to much noise at night. In the end Gerald started to show a bald spot on the back of his head where the SS wheel spoke was. In any case a hamster should never look "bent” while running. Also when I did take the SS out of the cage for a different wheel I found the old SS was about to break apart anyway by Gerald’s weight.

The next size up of SS is way to large, its big enough for a huge rat or chinchilla, its to bad they don’t make a middle size between that.

Now all my rodents besides my Roborovski have Super Pet Run-A Rounds. Every so often they start to squeak, but its nothing a bit of vegetable oil wont fix, besides that I find they are quite silent.

Hmmm, I hope you got the extra huge size, becasue there is a good chance you might need to buy another one anyway. If fudge grows to be a big hamster then the SS wont be any good. Once his back starts arching when he runs on it that means it's time to get a bigger wheel.

No I never got the big size. I got the normal one. I dont think you realise wheels arent FLAT so their backs are bound to be slightly bent. Obviously if he does happen to get too big for this wheel I will revert back to his previous one which is bigger.
