I know that wheels are round, but if the wheel is to small in size it can cause them to have the arch their backs in an unatural way, At lest with my syrian I found it was really way to small.

Candace is right that hamster's backs shouldn't be arched when they are running in their wheels, the majority of wheels sold for hamsters in shops are unsuitable for syrians as they are too small. Incidentally I also think the ones Candace has posted are unsuitable too as feet could easily get caught in the mesh, they're no better than wire rungs. If the hamster is arched when running, the wheel is too small. Silent spinners are great for their silence (I'm really missing them this week, staying with all four hamsters in the bedroom in their holiday cages which have noisy Rolly wheels!) but the sizes are a bit poor - small is ok for roborovskis and mice, the middle size is ok for dwarf hamsters and smaller syrians or gerbils in my opinion, but most syrians and gerbils are too big for them. The large size is a bit too big, maybe for rats and degus (who will destroy it anyway!).
There are some larger wheels available which are better for syrians - the wodent wheel comes in an 8 inch size, and there is an 8.5 inch comfort wheel. There's also a rat wheel sold in Pets at Home which is a larger size. The other wheels are sometimes available on ebay or online stores.

wheels
We use a Savic Rolly jumbo wheel x-tra large rat & hamster wheel. It can attach to bars or you can get a stand. We dont find it noisy and it is plenty big enough for our guys (sorry from pets at home)

We got a silent spinner for Tumble today!!
He was getting too big for his old yellow wheel, and it was a bit noisy.
The SS spins a lot faster than Tumbles old wheel, he keeps trying to stop and wash in it, but he just falls over because it is still rocking!

Two of my silent spinners aren't so silent any more- they've started to rattle on the spindle, and I can't seem to be able to tighten it up. I'm not best pleased! They were brilliant when I first got them (and my new one is still super silent) but now they're just as rattly as the old wheels they had!

I find the first time I wash mine they often go squeeky. I recently got one for Debs (flogging_molly) and it made a right racket from new. The coloured plastic frame seems a bit loose. A plain comfort wheel makes less noise, especially as it is being used by Roborovski and they are on it constantly Maybe see if you can wash it without taking it apart, as the minute that spindle is taken off the problems start. No amount of oiling or readjusting seem to make much difference. Wodent Wheels are slightly better and at least spare parts can be obtained (from USA mind you). Some are great and stay silent but unless quality control is tightened they may well find their status as the best wheel for those whose hamster lives in their bedroom is lost. I hope you write to the company Emma to let them know. I have contact details if you need them.
