Marvellous megazorb for me as seem to allergic to the pine shavings. Can buy it at the local horse suppliers for £6 for 85l which is cheaper than wood shavings and cheaper than mail order.

I used wood shavings for my last hamsters, but don't use them for current one, at the mo he's got the same substrate as my ratties - Ecobed (cardboard squares) plus shredded paper in the igloo, not that he sleeps in his though!

I have been using shavings since i got my furry buddies... ....and they always love to dig in them and it doesnt go over the side...unlike other cage floor materials which i have occasionally tried in the past and found it kept going all over the side of the cage how annoying...

We use carefresh for our robos and they love it as they can burrow in it and build nests.

I used shavings at first with my chinese, then got annoyed with it going under my finger nails and it hurting so had heard about megazorb and used it. Was good value but i seemed to be allergic to it, more than the shavings so switched back.
Have never used anything else other than these so not sure what else is a good recommendation.

I've used shavings for years. With all my guinea pigs and rabbits. I used it with Sammy and found a paticular shavings from Whitehall to be really crisp and not at all dusty. I now use it for Mango and Chutney and they love to burrow in it! I love it and love the smell!
