Thankyou, but that actually is smaller than the cage i have at the moment.

Cute Hammies, i think i am leaning towards the fantasy. Its a lot bigger than it looks in the pictures and that set up is awesome. I think i'd fill most layers with toys though, i love her being busy. Does anyone know how big the tubes are, or if the tubes would combine with the make your own playground sets as she has and loves the tubes from this

Ah ok, I'd be concerned about Scamp ending up rubbing her nose raw if she had thin bars, so its good to know that if anything they'd stop the chewing rather than hurt her.

And I thought it was a max of roughly 1cm for syrians? (I'd meant that theres no smallest bar spacing, hence min, but am starting to wonder if I got confused somewhere.)

Mona's Humans - Thanks for the comment on perseverance lol, it was a couple of days work but Scamp was happy so it was worth it. And I think we got our storage containers cheaper, which'd probably explain me finding them worth it whereas yeah, £60 for a bin cage is a bit more than I'd want too.
We rearranged our bedroom in absurd ways to fit the hamsters in happily lol, also had the choice of "clothes or hamsters?" so most of our clothes now live elsewhere :P

And difficult is good! It just shows you want the best for the hamster, we've been through that one too lol. The number of times I've gone through every source of cages I can find trying to find the perfect answer for our pets is insane lol

I was surprised at how big the imac fantasy was when I finally saw it in person, am afraid I don't know the tube size, and you might be able to connect them with your other tubes but it depends entirely on the diameter of the tubes.

I got the wrong end of the stick >.< there isn't a minimum bar spacing, like you said, only the max of 1cm. I got my mins and maxs mixed up lol >.<

Thanks all, i'm looking into the imac fantasy more now, but cant find anywhere to actually see one, rather than just ordering online, am slightly concerned as the shelves don't look flat and i would worry toys would wobble a lot!

Vanilla sorry if i gave the wrong impression i have 2 levels of 50 by 40 cm except the small hole for her to get up obviously lol. - i have no idea how pics work lol, but atm she has her nest house and a wooden puzzley thing downstairs with a stripey tube, her water and a willow log pile to climb on up to the second floor where she has a wheel, 2 puzzle playground builds, her food, toilet, some willow sticks, a vitamin block and a small wooden toy with holes, that has a toilet roll tube with food hidden inside and a loofah chew. she loves to climb the bars too. I move the layout 3 times a week, or whenever she decides to bar chew because its her way of telling me she's bored

Any ideas, criticisms etc welcome

i will be getting new ones from
Imac Fantasy Deluxe Hamster Cage 58x38x38cm - Berriewood Pet Supplies
they also sell the extensions too thats one of the best prices i have found, and they have exelent service i have heard, they courier it to your door for about £5 (even with the extra tier its £5, so it works out good)
i am hunting them on ebay too, if they are local or have delivery, as i cant drive, and cant make my dad go half way across london for one XD

the cage she is in atm sounds ok for now, if you can get the fantasy that would be awesome! i am becoming a big fan of them myself haha

Isn't Mona's current cage basically the same size as a fantasy with an extension though?

From what i can see, hers is about 8cm short of the fantasy, so as the fantasy has a built in top layer, that makes it 16cm short, so a fantasy with 2 extensions would effectively double the space she has now.

Am i working it out wrong?

I think you've got it right, but as I don't own a fantasy I may have missed something. Am pretty sure you're right though
