Cotton wool bedding kills hamster

we got some hamster bedding which read suitable for hamsters from a well known store but the bedding{cotton wool} got wrapped round her leg and pulled it out of joint and when we found her in the morning she was dead. we got in touch wih the store and they said they would look into it

I am sorry to hear this Nigel. There are many campaigns trying to ban the sale of this bedding. Your hammie is not the first to suffer and many have died with it blocking the bowel or even choking them when it winds around the teeth. Pursue the matter with customer services at the store and try and get them to withdraw it from sale.
It is terrible stuff and should never be allowed on the market.

I'm so sorry you had to find out about the dangers of fluffy bedding in such a horrific way.

The bedding is disgusting and should be banned. -.-

I'm very sorry to hear about the horrifc time you've had, this is just one of the many horrer stories about this terrible bedding that should NOT be sold

Thats awful! I keep telling my mum to stop buying it for my sister hamster but she doesn't listen! If it is the well know store I am thinking of ,they sell plenty of dangerous "safe" toys and bedding,I am banned from one of my local ones :/

The very same thing happened to my mums gerbil.

On the forum we try to discourage the use of this bedding and your story will help to inform others.
