Default What wood to use?

Hey

I've asked this on various forums before but never really got any answers.

If I was to make say an extra level or toys or something out of wood what type of wood do you think I should use?

I've been thinking about this for months now so thought I'd ask here. Someone suggested no soft wood and only hard wood...people on a german forum said that they use birch and poplar plywood over there, but I've not had look finding any.

Do you think it would be okay just to use any wood which hasn't been treated? I'm running out of ideas, and would love to make something for Charlie (and future ham).

Thanks
Jane
