Awwh! It's like her own little pebble beach!

I wander how she will react to the soil... No doubt she will get messy!

I thought the same amy! I think they look a bit smaller in the photos then in reality, because the smallest rock has about 3-4 cm in diameter ^^ I bet she'll love the soil xxx

Would it be worth buying some dried coco husk soil. It is used for reptiles and snails. Yoiu wouldnt have to worry about plant food or pests then either.

I put the rocks on the stove then I boiled the water in a kettle (great way of saving money!) and poured it on them. I just put the temp to max and watched it carefully.

Thant the sort of thing I was talking about. I got some 100% coco husk blocks from the poundshop. Its in the garden area. Each block swells to 8 liters when the water is added.

I dont see the need to bake the compost either - compost is made so that it doesnt carry parisites or anything as these can damage plants, certainly seedlings. So unless you've had the bag for a long time or its been stored somewhere damp I wouldnt bother baking it. I have a bag of compost in my spare bedroom (I live in a flat but grow herbs) so it doesnt get damp or go near any animals, insects etc. Unless its baked on a very high temp it wont get rid of any nasties anyway.
If the soil in the bag already comes semi damp, would that be ok?
