Default Dusty

The dustiness was one of the main reasons why I stopped buying CareFRESH. I tried all sorts of things - sieving etc but it just wasn't worth the hassle when there are other alternatives out there. Plus it is still quite expensive in the UK. £2.99 for a 10 liter bag doesn't last someone with a hamstery very long...

I found at Wal-Mart bedding called Critter Care, which looks just like the Carefresh. I checked out the bedding at PETsMART when I got our new hamster. It was between 3-4 dollars for the equivalent of the small bag of CareFRESH. I decided that if the Critter Care didn't work out then I would go ahead and spring for the CareFRESH.

Default Critter Care

Candace will be able to talk more about this product - it is not sold in Wal-Mart in UK unfortunately. All they sell here are wood shavings (origin unknown). She seems to like it and if it is like CareFRESH it should be okay. Just check how dusty it is. Try transferring it into a larger bag and giving it a good shake - this will allow all the dust to settle to the bottom.

Yes I use crittercare and its pretty much exactly the same thing as carefresh as I can tell. It’s all natural and absorbent and doesn’t have any kind of scent. I don’t find it to be dusty at all, But I think like all bagged and packaged bedding a little bit of dust may settle in the bottom, so if your worries I would suggest doing what babyoos said. But I never bother with that, I think the stuff is great and the price is right!

My critters seems to really enjoy it, and I like that its nice and soft for them.

I wish they sold them in bulk bags though.

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? I assume Wal-Mart is only a distributer???

Default Size of bag..

Yeah, you could ask them if they do a larger bag or have any plans to do one in the future? If you don't let them know there is a desire to buy their product in bulk they may not realise themselves.
