Finally happy with my hamster homes (picture heavy!)
I've been really concerned about how my space my dwarfies have, and feeling like a bad hamster mummy for not giving them more suitable accommodation. I was going to try a bin cage, but I saw an aquarium going cheap on eBay near me, and, well, I couldn't resist.
So as of tonight, my two co-habiting girls, Langly and Byers, share this 90 x 35 tank:
Right side with food, little cube which they loved to use as a bed in their last cage, flying saucer and wheel (which I'm a little concerned they've grown out of)
Left side with sandbath, little nest with toilet roll tubes and bedding, seesaw and egg box
From the front
A little video of them exploring:
Eventually, I'd like to have an all natural german-esque set-up for them, which lots more substrate (when I get a lid made I'll put more in, but slightly worried about escape attempts atm!) and non-plastic accessories, but alas, it's all about the money! It's a fairly basic start, but they have more running around room now and it's so much easier to see them.
All this means that Frohike gets to move into the Duna Fun, which is a lot bigger than her last setup and she's currently exploring excitedly.
The basic cage. The Puzzle Playground creates a barrier so I can give her a deep-substrate digging area under the shelf.
From the front:
And the side, where you can see her space lab from her last setup (her favourite place: she nests underneath and comes up to the top to beg for treats when she hears me moving about) and the gym with her wheel.
What do y'all think? They're not perfect, but I finally feel content that they have enough space to keep them happy.

Langly and Byers: That was sooo cute how they swapped wheels in the video!
They look super happy in their new home - I hope that the big space doesn't cause any problems, and that they continue being o-so cute together!
Frohike's cage looks great too! I'm sure he's thankful!

I'm hoping it won't cause any fights, as they were in the Duna Fun with the tubes and different areas before and seemed to get on fine. They have destroyed the neat and tidy cage overnight and are now snuggled up together sleeping, so far so good!

LOL, sadly not, I quite fancy Walter and/or Skinner for a Syrian when I get round to getting one though. Nice to see a fellow XF fan so near to me!
Thanks everyone. They seem like happy little girlies tonight running around.
