It's made from a water resistant coated birch plywood unit, so I think it has some protection from urine.
And in germany they spot clean this style of cage, and only do a full clean every 3 months ish.
Because you use a lot of bedding etc.


It looks really great mark, bet you're thrilled to finally have it done.
Your seperation works really well too, because they won't bury all the substrates all together like mine has!
I especially like the sawdust compartment, looks really nice

Mark you're amazing, those cages are fantastic! Just wondering what you've done for ventilation though? Does the top one have mesh in? And what about the bottom one?

is the boulder/rock/stone handmade from paper-mashe and meal worms? I really want to do something like this for ages, so thank you for the inspiration!!!

Mark, this is amazing - such a great cage, your hamsters will love it! I just adore it when people have the skill and patience to build these cages themselves - if it wasn't for my husband, I'd have to spend lots of money on cages custom made for me...
