Default Possibly the ultimate cage set up I've seen!

I was browsing pet finder.. ( I do this sometimes just to see the cute ham pictures) and I came across a website of a lady who rescues hamsters in New York. Here is her website... http://www.thejessicawells.com/hamster/hhouse.htm

She has a lovely website and all her hamster are adorable!

She has some pictures of her cage arrangements on the website and I found one that she calls "The Hamster Condo" that I just love! Ive been trying to think of a batter way to arrange my rodent corner so it was nicer to look at and more practical. Right now I have bins piled on top of each other and its a pain having to move them all around just for feeding time. Dont get me wrong I LOVE bins, But for me I could use something better in my house.

So check out this picture of their Hamster Condo.

What do you guys think of that? Pretty nice inst it. Lucky for me I have a very handy father in law, and Im sure he would help me make it! If I can get the money for materials. hehe. If I made this, my hamsters would have more floor space then they have now.. roughly 45 inches long by 22 inches deep

Very nice indeed! What you could do, is take a metal shelving unit (one with adjustable shelves?) and buy some small gridded wire mesh to use on the front, sides and even back.

Or, look for a tall storage cupboard with a long door that could be split into sections and individual doors made as this lady has done?

Worth the effort I think!

Ya I was thinking something along those lines racinghamster It looks as though the one in the picture might have been made from a old shelving unit. I'm not sure how i would make mine.. bout however I do it, Ill be paying attention to making it look nice. So it blends in the the house a bit better lol.

You could always e-mail the lady and ask her for some suggestions?

Something like this could have three single level cages on the lower section and maybe a double one at the top, with a hole cut into the floor and a safety ramp going down to the lower floor? That way you have the option of a double cage on top and single level cages below that?!

You bet! the first thing I actually did was send her an email asking about it. That is after I showed Smoo and we both were very excited with the idea! I cant wait to hear back from her.

They look great, that would be much easier for you! They kind of remind me of mini rabbit hutches

Have a look at Holly's cage at the end of this link

Those cages look nice but do they have pull out trays for cleaning Snuggleham. You would never get that in the sink

Thats weird, the link takes me to a login page, not the thread? Is it perhaps under a private topic for users only? maybe I have to register to see it?

Signed up and got it all working! lol, Holly's cage is pretty impressive and looks like tones of fun too! Shes certainly creative!

If you look closely at the picture of the hamster condo you can see that it appears there are trays in side of each cabinet that looks like it would pull right out. I intend to make mine so there are high walled trays that I can pull in and out which will essentially be the main floor area in which the hamster live, which would be the thing that requires cleaning.
