Red face Megazorb users: Bedding or substrate?

On a whim last night I ordered a 2kg bag of Megazorb to try. With previous hamsters I've always used a good layer of sawdust as a substrate in the cage for digging, and then something a bit softer for nesting; I'm planning on using shredded toilet paper this time round. The silly thing is, I have no idea which of these megazorb should be used for - nesting or digging, or both. Help?

Edit: I've read it isn't compacted at all, like sawdust is. How long does 2kg normally last you?

I use megazorb as the substrate layer, about 2.5 inches thick on the bottom of the cage, and provide quite a few handfuls of shredded tissue for Mr P to make his bed/nest (he tends to mound up the megazorb in the corner, and top it with tissue, to make a deep comfy nest )

Mine makes her nest out of tissue paper, and enjoys digging in the megazorb
It depends on your hamsters nest building technique as to whether the megazorb is included, but it's a substrate
nice and soft too ^.^

Yup same here, I use megazorb for the substrate and ripped up toilet roll and shredded jcloth for the bedding. I also use magazorb in the digging tower.

Oh, forgot to add that an 85l bag of megazorb is about 15kg, so depending on how many cages you have 2kg should be enough for a couple of weeks.
